Seasonal Lifeguard — Central Park MCA
Minimum age: At least 16 years of age
Reports to: Aquatics Manager
Compensation: $18.81-$20.00/hr
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the lifeguard is responsible for enforcing policies, rules, guidelines, and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using Central Park facilities.
This position requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to cover shifts at all Central Park swimming pools as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor activities in the swimming pool area to prevent injuries and accidents
Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid
Perform related duties as required
Assist with and maintain records of activity levels and usage
Instruct or co-instruct programs and classes for various age groups and ability levels
Skill and Educational Requirements:
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age
CPR certification and Lifeguard Training certification are required by the first day of employment
Knowledge of current lifeguarding techniques and procedures related to rescuing drowning swimmers
Knowledge of first aid procedures commonly used in swimming pool operations
Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations, making proper judgments on the correct course of action
Sufficient physical strength and conditioning to rescue swimmers in danger of drowning
Ability to enforce pool safety rules firmly and courteously with the public
Ability to demonstrate CPR and rescue breathing skills within certification standards
Ability to work courteously with the public and staff while supporting safety, teamwork, and cooperation
Certifications:
CPR certification and Lifeguard Training certification are required
