  • Compensation: $21.00–$23.00/hr

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Pool Manager oversees pool operations, enforces policies, supervises staff, manages programs, and ensures safety, cleanliness, and proper chemical maintenance across all Central Park pool locations. This role requires evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel between locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule aquatic staff based on pool usage and manage guard rotations for safety

  • Manage daily registration, admissions, and cash handling procedures

  • Ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and proper pool system operations (circulation, filtration, temperature)

  • Oversee daily maintenance tasks including vacuuming, chemical testing, and reporting

  • Collaborate with Aquatics Director and Facilities Manager on mechanical operations

  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while modeling strong communication

  • Train, coach, and motivate aquatic staff to support teamwork and performance

  • Coordinate the Progressive Swim Program, including marketing, staffing, evaluations, and communication

  • Prepare lesson plans and oversee instructor assignments and performance

  • Conduct skill audits, guard observations, and in-service training

  • Spend most of the shift on the pool deck supervising staff and swimmers

  • Ensure all staff understand and can execute emergency action plans (EAP)

  • Oversee rescue readiness, first aid response, and incident reporting

  • Follow up on all incidents and implement safety improvements as needed

Skills and Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required

  • Minimum two years of lifeguard experience at a public pool

  • Experience managing a large swim lesson program (preferred)

  • Knowledge of lifeguarding techniques and drowning rescue procedures

  • Knowledge of first aid procedures used in pool operations

  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations with sound judgment

  • Sufficient physical strength and conditioning to rescue swimmers

  • Ability to enforce pool safety rules firmly and courteously

  • Ability to demonstrate CPR and rescue breathing skills within certification standards

  • Ability to work courteously with staff and the public while supporting safety and teamwork

Certifications:

  • CPR certification and Lifeguard Training certification are required
